Jerry Henry Hurst, 71, of Coatesville, passed away from cancer on Friday, October 9, 2015, at home and surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born in Greencastle, Indiana, on December 11, 1943, to Cecil Carlyle and Bessie (Henry) Hurst. He worked for many years for John Deere and earlier for Charlie Butler, Humphrey’s Wheelhorse , and I-H.  He worked at Dixie Chopper until his retirement in 2002.

On January 21, 1989, he married  Marlene Kay Shillings. They had three daughters: Kay Anna, Marlena Kate, and  Jerri  Lee.

He is survived by his wife Marlene, daughters Kay Anna (Andrew) Genotte and Marlena Kate Hurst; grandson Henry Russel Genotte; brothers Larry C. (Martha) Hurst, Greencastle; Terry Hurst, Chicago; and Donnie Prather, Crawfordsville, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Carlyle and Bessie Hurst, his daughter Jerri Lee, step-mother Freida (Terry) Hurst, and Art and Nellie Prather.

A memorial gathering with the family will be held at the Coatesville Public Library Conference Room on Saturday, October 24, from 2-4 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to help cover Jerry’s medical bills.
